One of my favorite hobbies is reading spicy fantasy romance books — and collecting them. If you love a little heat in your high fantasy, buckle up, because once you fall into this bookish rabbit hole, good luck finding your way out.

First and foremost, I’m a travel blogger who is an English major and a lifelong literature nerd. I’ve literally traveled to places because my favorite steamy fantasy romance books take place there. Stories have the power to transport us and teach us something new about life (and ourselves).

I recommend reading these spicy fantasy romance books with a glass of wine, your Kindle Oasis, and maybe a blanket to hide under when the enemies-to-lovers tension gets too good. Side effects may include wondering why your significant other isn’t a hot high lord and, yes, swooning. This list features a selection of spicy romance books for adults.

1. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros took BookTok by storm and is now a worldwide phenomenon. Amazon Prime confirmed we’re getting a Fourth Wing TV series!

I’m so excited to see one of my favorite spicy fantasy romance books come to life. The people are ready for another Dragon Fantasy series since Game of Thrones!

Fourth Wing follows twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail who suffers from a chronic illness. She believed she would enter the scribe quadrant and live a quiet life among the books.

The commanding general (who also happens to be her mother) has ordered her to join the dangerous Dragon Rider’s Quadrant… With nothing but her sharp mind, Violet must navigate the deadly political intrigue and training at Basgiath War College.

And to add the cherry on top of this passionate romance, Xaden Riorson (tall, dark, and handsome) wants her dead. This is an enemies-to-lovers book I just could not put down!

This is the first book in the series and is followed by Iron Flame and Onyx Storm

2. Blood and Steel by Helen Scheuerer

Blood and Steel by Helen Scheuerer is about a lady named Thea who lives in Thezmarr. In her country, women are forbidden from carrying weapons.

A prophecy that claims a woman carrying steel would reign destruction down on the kingdom. At birth, she was given a fate stone that seals her fate of dying at the age of 27.

Now 24 years old, Thea has three years to acheive her dream of becoming a Warsword who are the most vicious warriors. It’s got fantasy elements of dark magic, a riveting plot line, and a deliciously sexy brooding man named Wilder Hawthorne.

This is another enemies-to-lovers with magical elements perfect for fans of The Bridge Kingdom, From Blood and Ash, and The Witcher. You’re gonna have a great time reading this book since it gets spicier and spicier as the series progresses.

The next spicy fantasy romances in the series are Vows and RuinsFate and Furies, and Shadows and Storms

3. A City of Stars & Betrayal by Loraine Umi Hugo

Drum roll, please, for the next spicy dark fantasy romance book, A City of Stars & Betrayal by yours truly, Gina Bear.

This debut dives headfirst into Lunaria—a steampunk city dripping with magic, betrayal, and enough morally gray hotties to keep you up all night. After a fatal crash, our girl Sienna wakes up in this glittering death trap with powers she doesn’t understand and no way home. Naturally, she strikes a deal with a ruthless crime lord (because what could possibly go wrong?).

Enter Liam, the assassin with a cursed tattoo and eyes sharp enough to cut glass. He’s cold, he’s lethal, and falling for him is basically the worst idea ever—so of course, it happens. But Liam isn’t her only complication. Ravenna, a sharp-tongued witch with secrets of her own, forces Sienna to face a prophecy that could unravel the entire realm.

If you’re into dangerous love interests, witches with bite, and slow-burn tension that’ll have you screaming “JUST KISS ALREADY,” then ACOSAB is your next obsession. Think Peaky Blinders meets Crescent City.

This is book one in Record of the Eldergrove War, and let me tell you—it’s only the beginning.

4. Witch Collector by Charissa Weaks

Next on our list of romantasy books, we have Witch Collector by Charissa Weaks. We love a steamy romance mixed with a revenge tale and that’s what protagonist Raina Bloodgood is looking for. Her only desire is to yeet those who wronged her to the firey pits of hell.

Every harvest moon, the Witch Collector takes one young woman to the home of the immortal Frost King. On Collecting Day, Raina is about to get her murderous revenge, but that takes a backseat since a more sinister threat sets fire to her world.

The Collector, Alexus Thibault is the only person who can help save her sister. If you love a book where the villain gets the girl, you’re gonna love this one!

The trilogy is followed by City of Ruin and The Wolf and the Witch

5. When The Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker

Of course, we can’t forget When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker.

This one has had BookTok in a chokehold—some people love it, some people hate it, but honestly? If you’re here for assassins, dragons, and fae drama, you’re going to have a good time.

We follow Raeve, a deadly assassin who finds herself captured by a powerful fae faction. Prison bars aren’t exactly on her vision board, but they do lead her straight to Kaan Vaegor—a broody warrior still haunted by the ghost of a great love. Their connection is tangled, dangerous, and laced with banter sharp enough to cut steel.

What makes this world stand out? Dragons don’t just fly—they literally ascend to become moons in the sky. Add in a mysterious magic system built on the gods’ language, political intrigue, and a past that refuses to stay buried.

Mark your calendars for a Ballad of Falling Dragons out April 28, 2026!

6. Quicksilver by Callie Hart

If you like your heroines fiery and your settings frosty, Quicksilver by Callie Hart is for you. Saeris Fane is a thief from a sun-scorched desert who suddenly finds herself yeeted into Yvelia, a Fae realm made of ice, snow, and a whole lot of danger. Oh, and she didn’t just bring her sharp tongue—turns out she’s packing some hidden alchemical powers that every side wants to control.

Cue Kingfisher (who honestly reminds me of Xaden Riorson with a filthier mouth), the broody Fae warrior who’s as infuriating as he is irresistible. Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic is pure delicious tension: sparks flying, insults traded, and that “I hate you, but also please kiss me against this icy wall” kind of energy. As Saeris gets pulled into Yvelia’s looming war, she realizes her powers might be the only thing standing between survival and total destruction.

If you’re into heists, icy realms, and slow-burn romances that thaw even the coldest hearts, Quicksilver is your next snowy obsession.

Wait until Thanksgiving to read this one because Brimstone comes out on November 18, 2025!

7. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas hooked from the get-go and is one of the best spicy fantasy books I’ve ever read. Spicy Booktok convinced me so I decided to give it a whirl.

You may be wondering… Is a Court of Thorns and Roses spicy? And my answer is. HELL YES. It gets spicier as the series progresses and should be at the top of your books-to-read list.

The series follows Feyre Archeron whose survival and that of her family depend on her ability to hunt. On the brink of starvation, Feyre spots a deer and an abnormally large wolf in the forest.

Believing the wolf to be a faerie, Feyre uses a special ash arrow to kill it with a heart full of hatred. After killing the wolf, she is taken by a mysterious faerie into a world of magic and horror.

This is a modern plot twist on Beauty and the Beast where her captor is a handsome faerie lord with piercing green eyes and a mask. Feyre’s feelings of hatred slowly turn to something else as she fights to save them all from an ancient curse.

ACOTAR is one of the best romantic fantasy novels out there tbh. Trust me when I tell you, read them slowly and savor them because you’re going to be sad when it’s over.

8. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

In A Court of Mist and Fury, Feyre is still haunted by the terrible deeds she committed to save Prythian. During her ordeal, Feyre made a bargain under the mountain with Rhysand, the High Lord of the Night Court.

After dying and being remade as high fae Feyre still struggles with the trauma. The fae world is complex.

She has to navigate complicated politics, evil, and an even greater threat than Amarantha. It’s up to Feyre to harness her gifts and decide how she wants to shape her future.

You might be wondering where the spicy is? Girl, let me tell you, Sarah J. Maas is a MASTER of building the story, the world, and the sexual tension. Let me know what’s up when you get to Chapter 55. 😉

This series is followed by A Court of Wings and Ruin and A Court of Frost and Starlight.

9. A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas

Sarah J. Maas is about to make it muy caliente in A Court of Silver Flames. This is the crown jewel of spicy Booktok books.

Listen to E-Girls Are Ruining My Life by Corpse Husband and Savage Ga$p. That is pretty much the tone of this book.

In the fourth ACOTAR book, Nesta is dealing with her trauma from the war. In Nesta’s eyes, Feyre isn’t the hero we’ve all come to know and love, but the villain.

The eldest Archeron sister is proud, quick to anger, and slow to forgive. Nesta spends her nights in seedy taverns drowning herself in alcohol and fucking random strangers.

The only male who can truly get under Nesta’s skin is Cassian. Their sexual tension between them is sizzling and only gets hotter by forced proximity at the House of Wind.

While their romance blooms, one of the human queens of the Continent has unfinished business with Nesta. As the book goes on, the lovers must confront their pasts and make peace with it.

At first, it was a hard read since I felt no love toward Nesta. But let me tell you, only Maas can redeem a character and make you cheer them on.

10. Crescent City House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

I’m probably going to piss a lot of people off with my opinion, but Bryce Quinlan is the best SJM girl. At this point, this blog post should be a magical tribute to Sarah J. Maas and her series of faerie porn.

My favorite books are spicy fantasy romance books and I’m not even ashamed to admit it. Besides, who knew faeries could be so smoldering and sexy?

House of Earth and Blood follows half-fae Bryce Quinlan. Bryce has no aspirations for her future.

She works a job at an antiquities store and parties with her best friends all night long. Her perfect life shatters after her best friend Danika Fendyr is murdered. After the alleged murderer goes behind bars, the murders begin again two years later.

Enter moody hero, Hunt Athalar—a notorious fallen angel enslaved to the Archangels he tried to overthrow. Known as the Umbra Mortis, Hunt Athalar’s brutal skills are used to assassinate the archangel of Lunathion’s enemies.

When he’s offered a deal to help Bryce find the murderer in exchange for his freedom, Hunt takes the opportunity. Begrudgingly Bryce and Hunt dig into Crescent City’s seedy underbelly. This is a classic enemies-to-lovers fantasy book with spice.

House of Earth and Blood gives page-turning adventure and mystery as well as a slow burn sexual tension. This is the first book in the series and is followed by House of Sky and Breath and was recently concluded with House of Flame and Shadow.

11. A Kingdom of Stars And Shadows by Holly Renee

A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows by Holly Rene is about a young woman named Adara who is Star Blessed. This book reminds me of Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Blood and Ash series.

If you’re on a hangover from her books… This one is a real treat.

Adara is the Star Blessed promised to a prince prophesized to save the entire kingdom. She has glowing star marks all over her face and back…

Which makes her the most powerful one to have ever been born. Adara is betrothed to Gavril, the crown prince of the Fae kingdom.

However, her heart aches for his beautiful half-fae half-vampire brother, Evren. This is one of those spicy romance fantasy books that will have you clutching your metaphorical pearls.

Adara must navigate the lies and ultimately make the biggest decision of her life… Betray her heart or betray the kingdom.

This is a romance fantasy series followed by A Kingdom of Blood and BetrayalA Kingdom of Venom and Vows, and A Kingdom of Fire and Fate

12. From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Is from Blood and Ash spicy? Oh baby.

From the first five chapters of the book, I was legit like… What did I get myself into and why can’t I stop reading this?

This is one of the best romantic fantasy book series out there. We all can relate to undeniable attraction to someone we know isn’t good for us.

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout is about a chosen maiden named Poppy Balfour who is to usher in a new era. (And who is an incredibly strong female lead.) Destined never to be seen or touched, Poppy lives a lonely existence.

She waits for the day she will ascend and be deemed worthy by the gods. However, all Poppy wants to do is get revenge on the evil who took her family.

One night, Poppy has had it. In a classic, “Fuck this shit I’m out,” the first place she visits is a shady ass tavern.

Unfortunately, Poppy’s guardian and captain of the guard comes in. One of the tavern workers helps Poppy by telling her to hide in an empty apartment.

Enter the gorgeous Hawke (who is actually Prince Casteel Da’Neer), a golden-eyed guard honor bound to ensure her Ascension. He mistakes her for a random girl and ignites a fire she never knew existed.

This series is followed by A Kingdom of Flesh and FireA Crown of Gilded Bones, and The War of Two Queens. Fair warning, there is a lot of sex as the books go on and there’s even a threesome scene in the last one.

13. A Court This Cruel and Lovely by Stacia Stark

A Court This Cruel & Lovely by Stacia Stark has forbidden magic, ruthless kingdoms, and dream-haunted mercenaries. If this series is your jam, it might be calling your name. We follow Prisca, who discovers she’s got powers she absolutely should not have in a world that rips magic from its citizens and straight-up burns anyone who dares to keep it. Yikes.

On the run, she crosses paths with Lorian, a mercenary she recognizes from her dreams (because apparently fate likes to mess with her). Together they trek toward the palace, unraveling the king’s nasty little secrets and uncovering the truth behind those magic-stripping rituals. Cue plenty of danger, tension, and slow-burn attraction that keeps the pages turning.

Full disclosure: I devoured A Kingdom This Cursed and Empty and A Crown This Cold and Heavy, but personally got bored by A Queen This Fierce and Deadly. I didn’t finish. Still, the beginning of the series has all the hallmarks of spicy romantasy goodness—gritty worldbuilding, angsty banter, and a heroine fighting to reclaim her power.

14. Ruthless Villains by Marion Blackwood

When I think of a song that describes Ruthless Villains by Marion Blackwood, Darkside by Neoni comes to mind. Audrey lives in a world where magic is distributed equally.

She trained her entire life to hone her rare poison magic. Society told her to give it to the Great Current at age 18. She was pretty much like, “Fuck you. Fuck you. You’re cool. Fuck you. Fuck this shit I’m out.”

Audrey forsakes her previous life and runs away to become a “dark mage.” She builds her home on a plot of land that belongs to dark mage Callan Blackwell… Hence starting a nasty feud.

When the “heroes” come to remove the magic of the dark mages, Callan and Audrey set their differences aside. The only problem for these two is their blazing hatred soon turns into a burning passion.

This steamy fantasy romance series is intended for mature readers. Callan and Audrey are completely and utterly fucking unhinged which makes the book all the more entertaining.

It contains violence and sexual content. They are villains who would sacrifice the world to get what they want. Welcome to the dark side.

This book is a whole series followed by Wicked VillainsHeartless VillainsVicious Villains, and Merciless VillainsThe entire series is available to read on Kindle Unlimited.

15. Seven Sins of Snow by Loxley Savage

Seven Sins of Snow by Loxley Savage is a very dark and twisted retelling of Snow White. Snow often receives severe beatings and punishments from the Evil Queen who tries to sell her off to suitors.

The Queen will not stop until Snow is married off or dead. Snow begins to dream of Lurkers who satisfy her dark and wicked desires in her dreams.

They tell her they want to claim her and she belongs to them. As she falls deeper into the seven sins, she is transformed.

The vampires give her the power to take the Evil Queen down. Snow will not stop until she reclaims her kingdom and bathes in the blood of her stepmother.

This stand-alone book is DARK, but it had me sweating and clutching my wine in some parts. Loxley excels in dark twists on classic fairy tales so if you liked this one read Broken Beasts of Beauty.

16. Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin

This book is classified as a young adult book, but as the series progresses it gets spicier. Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin drops the reader right into the action.

Louise Le Blanc runs away from her coven and hides herself in the city of Cesarine. She forsakes all magic and lives off whatever she can steal.

Witches like Lou are hunted, feared, and burned. Enter handsome and sometimes insufferable Reid Diggory.

This straight-edge guy has lived by one principle: thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. His path was never meant to cross with Lou’s, but a compromising situation forces them into a forced marriage.

The slow burn romance between Lou and Reid is very sweet. This is an enemies-to-lovers series where some parts had me clutching my book and squealing, “Putain!”

This love story is the first in the series and is followed by Blood and Honey and Gods and Monsters

17. The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling is one of my favorite spicy fantasy books to read during the spooky season. This next book in the series is The Kiss Curse

Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any teenager would…with vodka, emo music, and a curse on her horrible ex-boyfriend. She hopes her harmless little hex will cause him a bad hair day or two.

Then, Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors and breaker of hearts returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. His quick trip to recharge the town’s leylines turns disastrously wrong.

Multiple calamities befall Rhys, and Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been the prank she expected. If you’re a lover of Welsh Men, sexy accents, and living in a small town, then this is the book for you.

Also, if you’re looking for spicy autumn romance books, I have an entire blog post dedicated to my favorite ones for the coziest time of year. And if you’re still in the holiday spirit, check out my list of spicy Christmas romances that will have Santa blushing!

18. Moon Touched by Elizabeth Briggs

Moon Touched by Elizabeth Briggs is a Kindle Unlimited series. Young wolf Ayla is the outcast of the Cancer pack for being half-human.

When the Zodiac Wolves meet for the annual Convergence to gain their wolves and find their mate, it’s a complete disaster. Ayla’s mate is the future alpha of the Leo Pack.

He rejects Ayla in front of all the Zodiac Wolves and slaughters her entire pack in front of her. She barely escapes with her life and is kidnapped by the alpha of the 13th sign.

The dark and dangerous alpha is offering her something she can’t refuse… Revenge against all those who have wronged her.

19. Fighting Destiny: The Fae Chronicles by Amelia Hutchinson

Fighting Destiny by Amelia Hutchinson is one the dirtiest books I have ever read and I’m not mad about it. This book ventures into forbidden love and comes with trigger warnings.

Don’t read this book if throw-your-ass-on-the-bed, tear-your-clothes-off-and-leave-you-panting dominant alpha male characters aren’t your thing. This is dark, dangerous, intense, gritty, and raw.

Young witch Synthia is on a strange assignment that leads to one of the most gruesome murder mysteries she has ever encountered. She has to figure out who murdered the witches and faeries before someone else turns up dead.

She hates the Fae and the Dark Prince of the Fae, Ryder is sex-on-a-stick gorgeous. They can’t trust each other and yet can’t stay away either.

Hutchinson has the filthiest imagination and I love every second of her explicit content. The books in the series are Taunting DestinyEscaping Destiny, Seducing DestinyUnraveling DestinyEmbracing Destiny, and Crowning Destiny

20. Flames of Chaos by Amelia Hutchins

Flames of Chaos by Amelia Hutchins is about Aria and her sisters. They return to the human realm of Haven Falls to discover the world is no longer as they left it.

We also introduce our moody hero Knox, the egotistical, self-centered, frustratingly gorgeous man who declared himself King during their absence. Aria soon discovers she’s more than a witch of the coveted Hecate bloodline.

Our boy Knox is kind of a dick because he has plans that have been cultivating for the last five hundred years. Even though Aria is his sworn enemy, will his desire for her be enough?

Will Knox let go of the memories of the past, driving his need for revenge that will destroy the pretty little witch he craves, or will he push the boundaries to fight for and claim what is his by right? Be warned that Hutchins books are nothing but pure smutty trash.

If you’re looking for more fun and less story, then her books deliver.

21. Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco is a trilogy that takes place on the island of Sicily. I felt connected to this book since my own Nona loved to cook much like Emilia’s grandmother does.

It’s honestly how Italian women of the early 1900s showed their love. Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are witches who work at their family restaurant, Trattoria.

Her entire world shatters when Emilia finds her twin sister’s murdered body with her heart ripped out and vows vengeance on her sister’s murderer. Emilia meets Wrath, the outlier among the seven demon brethren, always choosing duty over pleasure.

This is a slow burn enemies to lovers romance and I could not help but love every single interaction between Emilia and Wrath. Kingdom of the Wicked gets spicer and spicer with every book and I truly did enjoy this read.

Kingdom of the Wicked is in the fantasy romance genre and is followed by Kingdom of the Cursed, and Kingdom of the Feared

22. Throne of The Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco

If you’ve been dying for a romantasy that mixes devilish charm with wicked court politics, buckle up for Throne of the Fallen. We’re thinking Bridgerton in hell… This one drags you straight into the decadent, debauched world of the Seven Circles, where temptation isn’t just an art form—it’s currency.

Our leading man? Envy. Yep, one of the Seven Deadly Sins himself, and he is here to ruin your life (and you’re gonna thank him for it). When he gets tangled up with Camilla, a woman with secrets sharper than her stilettos, sparks fly—and so do knives. Think ballrooms laced with danger, whispered bargains that can’t be broken, and the kind of steam that’ll fog up your Kindle.

If you like your fantasy dripping with sin, spice, and sinfully good banter, Throne of the Fallen will have you flipping pages faster than you can say “morally gray men are my weakness.”

Don’t miss Throne of Secrets and Throne of Nightmares, which is set to be released February 10, 2026!

23. The Orchid Throne by Jeffe Kennedy

The Orchid Throne by Jeffe Kennedy begins with Queen Euthalia of Calanthe guided by a magical orchid ring. She will do anything to keep her people and secrets safe from a batshit crazy tyrant who rules the mainland.

Euthalia has been playing a long political game to stall her wedding to the tyrant Emperor Anure and fend off his cronies. In her desperation, Euthalia receives visions of a wolf man destined to save the world.

We then meet Conrí, the former crown Prince of Oriel who was sentenced to a life of torment in the mines of Vergmun. With nothing but his hatred for The Empire, he builds an army to overthrow him.

Throughout his journey, he meets an eccentric wizard named Ambrose. This wizard gives a prophecy that Conrí must claim the hand that wears the abiding ring. When fate brings the two banished rulers together, they find kindred spirits and fiery passion in each other.

This trilogy is followed by The Fiery Crown and The Promised Queen

24. The Duke and I by Julia Quinn

If you haven’t watched the Bridgerton series, please explain where tf you were during the 2020 pandemic? I literally watched it three times.

Enter the book by Julia Quinn that inspired it all, The Duke and I. Bridgerton is one of my top favorite spicy romance books for good reason.

Contrary to the Netflix series, Daphne Bridgerton actually isn’t the diamond of the season. In fact, this is her third season out in high society and she is still yet to find a husband.

In this historical romance, she’s still holding out for a love match the way her parents did. Both Daphne and reader navigate rigid upperclass London society during the Regency Era.

The forth youngest in her family of eight siblings, Daphne is your classic girl next door. She’s funny, charming, witty, and kind.

Sadly, she has been sitting in the friend zone with her crazy brothers scaring off most of her matches. At a ball, Daphne knocks out Nigel for trying to force himself on her.

Simon Basset sees everything. In order to cover up Daphne’s blunder, Simon proposes a fake courtship to keep London’s mamas off his back.

Daphne’s popularity, prospects, and reputation soar. Will Simon’s dark secret keep Daphne away and prevent them from being together?

Julia Quinn’s books are epic so please read The Viscount Who Loved MeAn Offer From a Gentleman, and Romancing Mister Bridgerton

25. A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Claire

Don’t you love a good retelling on the classic romance between Persephone, Goddess of Spring and Hades, Ruler of the Underworld? I know I sure like a story featuring Greek Gods.

A Touch of Darkness follows our heroine, Persephone except she’s a failure. Since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch.

She wants nothing more than to live as a mortal journalist in New Athens in the human world. Now we have Hades, the reigning king of debauchery, who built a gambling empire in the mortal world.

Following the old legend, Persephone makes contract with Hades after a chance encounter. The stakes? Create a life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever.

The next book in this Greek mythology inspired series is A Touch of Ruin

26. Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa

Buckle in because Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa is a spicy fantasy novel. Callypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem.

For the last seven years, she’s been wearing a bracelet of magical black beads. These are magical IOUs for favors she received from The Bargainer.

One night, Callie finds the handsome Bargainer in her bedroom with a devious sparkle in his eyes. Her world turns upside down when he asks for a kiss which costs a bead while nonchalantly letting her know there’s trouble in the Otherworld.

Something evil has been killing women and children and returning them in glass caskets. If the Bargainer wants to save his people, he’ll need the help of the siren he spurned long ago.

However, in the faerie realm, everything comes with a catch.

If you’re on a book hangover from the A Court of Thorns and Roses series then this is still in the realm of spicy fairy books you have to read. This spicy fantasy book series is followed by A Strange HymnThe Emperor of Evening Stars, and Dark Harmony.

27. Pestilence by Laura Thalassa

Pestilence by Laura Thalassa is the first book in The Four Horsemen Series. I never thought something as terrifying as the four horsemen could be sexy, but here we are.

When Pestilence comes to Sarah Burns’s town she knows they’re all marked for death. The first time she sees this angelic-looking man she decides the only way out of this is to kill him.

Pissed off about the attempt on his life, he takes her prisoner and can’t wait to make her suffer. The longer they spend time together, the more conflicted the pair become about their sexual tension.

If you liked the first book, then definitely read the rest of her series featuring WarFamine, and Death

28. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

No spicy book list could be complete without Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. This book serves as my second greatest inspiration for visiting Scotland—the first being my lovely friend, Keri.

Outlander is the story of Claire Randall, a former front-line combat nurse during World War II.

After the war is over, Claire and her husband Frank go on a second honeymoon to the highlands of Scotland. Frank visits his good friend Reverend Wakefield to trace his ancestry.

While in the Scottish Highlands, Claire begins to hear buzzing from standing stones during the Festival of Samhain. When she touches them, she is transported 200 years into the past, right before the Jacobite Rebellion.

Claire wants nothing more than to go home back to her time. However, after meeting the handsome, charming, and emotionally intelligent six-foot red-headed Highlander Jamie McTavish, she’s going to have to make the hardest choice of all.

P.S. And once you’re done reading, head over to Amazon Prime to watch Outlander.

I hope you loved diving into the realm of romantasy books. I read every single one of these recommendations, and I’d gladly do it again. Whether you’re in the mood for fae, dragons, assassins, or morally gray villains, these stories will keep you turning the pages long into the night.

And yes, I will be writing a strongly worded letter to Santa as to why he hasn’t brought me my own Jamie for Christimas. Until then….
